Other First Aid
Remote Location / Field Work Emergency Care Course
This course is run over 6 or 12 hours and is ideal for those who may have to deal with medical emergencies in a remote location. The course was originally designed and regularly delivered for tutors of Reading University who take students to remote part of the world. The course will specialise in improving diagnostic skills, stabilisation and long term care. Topics covered include:
- Incident management and improvisation
- Management of an unconscious casualty
- Basic Life Support
- Spinal Injuries
- Fractures and Dislocations including splinting
- Control of severe bleeding
- Burns and Scalds
- Anaphylaxis & Epi Pen / Ana Pen Use
- Poisons
- Hypothermia & Heat Exhaustion
- Monitoring a casualty
- All other topics required
Motorists Emergency Aid Course (3-6hr)
The fear of having an accident whilst driving or having to deal with an incident on the road is one of most motorists. Our motorists emergency aid course will provide information on Incident Management, Basic Life Support, Spinal Injuries, Wounds and Bleeding, Penetrating Chest Wounds and Cardiac Emergencies.
Outward-bound Emergency Aid
Our Outward-bound is designed for all those who are likely to have to deal with medical emergencies in remote settings. The course will cover topics relevant to you particular setting. Please contact our office to discuss your particular requirements.
Snowsport Instructors First Aid Course
This is a two day course specifically designed for Ski and Snowboard instructors. The course follows the syllabus laid down by The British Association of Snowsport Instructors. On successful completion a certificate valid for 3 years will be issued.
Topics covered include:
- Safety & Accident Procedure
- Communicable Diseases
- Management of an unconscious casualty
- Basic Life Support & AED awareness
- Breathing Difficulties
- Wounds, Bleeding and Shock
- Soft Tissue Injuries & Dislocations
- Fractures, Chest & Spinal Injuries
- Common Medical Emergencies / Major Illness
As with all of our courses, this course can be run at your location if you have a group of instructors who require the training.
Cyanide and Hydrofluoric Acid Emergency Care.
We are now offering a new course originally developed for The University of Reading. This course will provide training in the management of a casualty suffering from Cyanide Poisoning pr Hydrofluoric Acid burns. Topics covered on the course include:
- Incident Management and Scene Safety
- Personal Protective Equipment
- Recognition of Cyanide Poisoning and Hydrofluoric Acid Burns.
- Basic Life Support
- Use of Bag Valve Mask Resuscitators.
- Oxygen Therapy
- Use of HF Antidote Gel (Calcium Gluconate Gel)
- Question and Answers.
